SCWA, TNT Bring Water to Bound Brook
The Suffolk County Water Authority and TNT Water Works, Suffolk's only bottled water company, recently provided drinking water to citizens in New Jersey following Hurricane Floyd. This tanker, owned by TNT and filled with thousands of gallons of the same pure, safe, constantly tested water the SCWA supplies to more than 340,000 residential and business customers on Long Island, was stationed in Bound Brook, the hardest hit community, which suffered massive flooding and fires after the storm. TNT ordinarily uses the tanker to bring SCWA water to its bottling plant in Riverhead, where it is packaged for distribution in the local area as Pine Barrens Pure.
The Suffolk County Water Authority is a public benefit corporation operating
by virtue of the Public Authorities Law of the State of New York. Serving about
80% of Suffolk's residents, it operates without taxing power on a non-profit basis.
